Musée du Louvre

The Louvre is old grand stone architecture with a modern glass pyramid in the middle. Inside there is hundreds of rooms. It houses some of the world’s most famous artwork. The 3 key pieces are the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo and the Winged Victory of Samothrace. The piece I liked the most out of the three, even though they are all different, was the Winged Victory, with it’s wings and the motion captured in the stone, frozen. Art was serious stuff, and very realistic. The most lighthearted painting was the Four Seasons which cleverly turns crops and plants of the different seasons into a face. – Alexandra

Today we went to the Louvre where they keep the Mona Lisa!! We got audioguides and they led us to the most famous paintings in the museum. I also learned that the Louvre was a castle built for defence, they still have a few parts of it left including the main entrance gate. I don’t think the Mona Lisa is as great as they say it is, some of the paintings in the same room are just as unique or maybe more. – Isaac

Venus de Milo should be known as Aphrodite de Milo, because she came from Greece.

Winged Victory of Samothrace

The Louvre has 35 000 visitors on an average day, like the day we went.

The biggest swarm is always here

Isaac thought The Wedding Feast at Cana by Veronese, directly behind the M. L., was more impressive

We all liked The Four Seasons by Arcimboldo

On the way to Napolean’s apartments.

Napolean’s dining room. He didn’t ever live at the Louvre, but apparently held state functions here.

Contemplating Lady MacBeth

We managed to find a couple pieces of Canadiana
